If you have electronic/electric problems on the Britany coastI can strongly recommend Concarneau Electronique Service (Tel 98 50 51 09) They are at Port Le Foret and Benodet's Penfoul Marina.
The latter is just an office at the end of the row of shops behind the marina office. This tends to "manned" each afternoon by a sensible lady of mature years who will take the equipment or arrange for an engineer.
Last summer the root of my autohelm 4000 tiller mechanism shattered and they repaired it in 24 hours. I also negotiated a discounted price for a Delta battery from madame.
I understand that the branch in Concarneau is there only to do work on fishing boats.
The people at Penfoul are also very helpful and understanding if you are in trouble
Cruising grounds
I strongly urge anyone who has not yet sailed in the Hebrides to do so:
We enjoyed a mixture of weather, including six days of sunshine in a row, which is unusual, but the scenery, the people we met, the Malt Whiskies, the wildlife [ sitting in the cockpit with a glass of Talisker watching a pair of ravens on the cliff and a fawn in the bracken beside the water, with the sun going down in a quiet anchorage] and the fast tides [you can easily do 12 and 13 knots over the ground by timing the tides right] make the experience something uniquely memorable. We have been sailing on the scottish West Coast for many years now, but it is always new and exciting.
